Carlos Zavala – Academy Coach
Coach Carlos holds a USSF A & National Instructor license and has a degree on Kinesiology. He has played for many professional soccer teams like Cal State Los Angeles NCAA DI. He has also been the Technical Director and Director of Coaching for 28 years. Coach Carlos strives to understand the development framework of each player to create a player-centered environment.
The science of the game guides Coach Carlos’ coaching philosophy, using defensive, attacking, and transition principles to shape the environment of the youth player. He strives to focus on a player-centered environment, ensuring that his teaching skill is age-specific, fully understanding the developmental framework of each player. He likes many things about LFC IA SoCal, such as its culture, player development instruction, professional club staff, and amazing player and parent personnel.

Ian McDonnell – Marketing Coordinator
Ian McDonnell moves behind the scenes in making the Liverpool Way known in Orange County and online. He plans, coordinates, and creates content about LFC IA SoCal’s programs. He also shares what’s going on at the Academy, especially highlighting the achievements of our athletes. Ian loves working with the LFC IA SoCal staff because of their evident passion for soccer. He cannot wait to make an impact by sharing how soccer positively influences young players!
