It is one thing to take inspiration from who we consider heroes. However, meeting and learning from them is an opportunity of a lifetime!
Almost 90 young goalkeepers did not pass up the privilege of learning from an LFC elite himself—Jack Robinson! The LFC’s first-team assistant goalkeeping coach teamed up with LFC IA SoCal in holding an exclusive Goalkeeping Camp from June 5-8. Since 2018, Jack Robinson has helped LFC win prestigious tournaments like the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Community Shield, and FIFA Club World Cup.
Training with an extraordinary athlete is everything one can imagine and more. Participants from different age groups were divided into four camps. They received guidance from Coach Jack, who displayed world-class leadership in teaching the kids through drills he knew they’d all love and enjoy.
My daughter, Elizabeh (2010), really enjoyed the camp. She said that many of the drills were unique to what she has done in the past. the coaches were nice, fun, challenging, and supportive. She really liked Jack as a coach and wished it wasn’t only for four days.

Morning and evening participants gained insights into defending the goal, goalkeeping awareness, proper communication, making great saves, and keeping their hands ready for any striker’s shot. Not only did young goalkeepers have a blast, but their parents were also happy about their child’s experiences.
My daughter, Teaghan (age 11) , had an amazing time at the Jack Robinson GK camp. She loved every minute of it. She told me she had a lot of fun, but felt like she was pushed to work hard, and the staff was amazing. She is happy that Liverpool offers Goalie training and she is able to improve upon her skills.

At the end of each camp, outstanding players were chosen as Most Valuable Players and were each able to take home a jersey signed by all Liverpool FC first-team members!
It was a great experience for my daughter, Erika (Age 8). She was excited every day and couldn’t wait to share about what she did after the camp. All of the coaches including Jack appeared to go out of their way to meet the players and specifically know them by name.

This Goalkeeping Camp would not have been the same without the involvement of well-distinguished names in goalkeeping: Jeff Malloch, who founded American Goalkeeper; and Jeff Tackett, Director of Coaching at Southern California School of Goalkeeping. Of course, we are proud of our own Goalkeeping Program Director, Jeff Redinger, and Assistant Goalkeeping Coach, Ally Lozano.
